Meet Stacey
A dynamic and well-sought after “transformational” influencer, leader, speaker, career catalyst, mentor and self-proclaimed disruptor, Stacey Lewis is the Founder/CEO/Creator/Chief Influencer of @HRInterrupted., a nationally recognized HR consultancy firm committed to curating leaders with GRIT who unapologetically interrupt historical workplace ideologies and practices to reimagine the people, business and culture experience!
During her 35 years in the HR game, Stacey has seen and experienced a lot. She has had many successes and a lot of failures. Growing up in the HR ranks, Stacey candidly shares that she did not have anyone to teach her how to navigate the land mines. She didn’t have anyone in her ear or looking out for her best interest. Subsequently, Stacey made a lot of mistakes, missteps and professionally hurt quite a few folks, starting with herself. Vowing that whenever she was in a position of inspiration, impact and influence, she would serve as an advocate and catalyst for those in the HR space, so history would not repeat itself in their lives. Acknowledging that at times, HR is not always regarded in the best light, one of Stacey’s favorite mantras is “Stop asking for permission. Just do what YOU do and do it WELL!”
Stacey is a highly regarded, biased to action, HR executive with experience in the private and public sectors. She is a proven thought leader in the DEIB space and has worked with Fortune 500 companies and government, leading the conversations that create a space of inclusion and belonging that drives employee engagement. Stacey holds a professional DI certification from Cornell University. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of the Pacific. She also holds a Human Resources Management Certification from Loyola Marymount University, as well as multiple professional HR and DEI designations. Stacey is the former Chief Human Resources Officer for the Port of Long Beach, the second busiest seaport in the country. She is also a former Personnel Commissioner for Long Beach Unified School District, and holds several leadership positions on local boards, including Girls Inc. of Los Angeles.
A dynamic and well-sought after “transformational” speaker and self-proclaimed disruptor, Stacey formerly served as a Host for Every Way Woman, a local cable and internet talk-show committed to celebrating everyday women in every way. She also hosted a local radio show on Accelerated radio.net .
Yet, after being everything to everybody for so long, Stacey took a step back (both personally and professionally), gave herself permission to move to the front of the line and decided to spend some quality time on herself. Due to her amazing story and journey of weathering abuse, she was selected as one of America’s Women Heroes for the former ABC daytime talk-show The Revolution. More recently, Stacey was one of the main stage speakers for the YPO International Conference, where she electrified the 2500+ attendees with her story of personal healing and redemption. However, at the end of the day, when business meetings and client engagements have concluded, Stacey finds complete solace with her husband of 30 years and their three young adult children.
“Give yourself permission to move to the front of the line! Self care trumps everything! While I believe in always operating in excellence; I also know that if something happened to me, after the announcements, tears and flowers, the work would continue.“
